The problem

Traffic violations are recorded against the vehicle, not the driver, and one vehicle may be driven by several drivers across shifts and routes. Transporters cannot tell which drivers cause most violations, so training and disciplinary action land on the whole driver pool instead of the few high-risk drivers. It is a road-safety problem as well as a cost problem: accidents, insurance claims, downtime and penalties.

Across the Rosmerta Group reference fleet, 2 of 17 drivers account for more than 40% of attributed violations. That is the pattern the platform surfaces.

Vahan e-Challan FASTag

The problem

Transporters running large fleets accumulate challans across several States and enforcement systems, with no consolidated view. Violations usually come to light only when a vehicle is stopped or a renewal is blocked, and settling them means working through separate State portals.

Challans raised in six States appear in one list, and the dispatch gate holds back any vehicle with an expired permit, PUCC or insurance.

A single, fleet-wide compliance view that reduces vehicle downtime, penalty exposure and manual portal checking.

  4. Settlement Sandbox

    Payments run in sandbox mode, so no money is moved. In production they route to the e-Challan and Virtual Court payment gateways.

How it works

The same four steps run for every vehicle and driver in the fleet, from a record check to a dispatch decision.

  1. Fetch official records

    Vehicle, licence and challan records are requested from Vahan, Sarathi and e-Challan. Responses are cached for 15 minutes and every lookup is logged.

  2. Attribute to the driver

    Each challan's date and time is matched against the duty roster to find who was at the wheel. When a challan carries a licence number, it is matched to that driver directly.

  3. Score and act

    Attributed violations are weighed by frequency and severity into a score for each driver. Flagged drivers get counselling, training or a change of deployment, tracked to completion.

  4. Detect, settle, dispatch

    Outstanding challans are gathered fleet-wide and settled from one screen. Before a vehicle leaves, its documents and toll tag are checked for a clear go or no-go.
